Scottish Studies Trips

The S3s taking the Uniformed and Emergency Services unit of the Scottish Studies Award have enjoyed visits and talks from our local rescue services over the last couple of months. They have learnt about their recruitment processes, training within the services and job route opportunities.

WPC Campbell came in to talk to the pupils in school, Bo Wilson also came in to share with the pupils how to become a member of the ambulance service and the different roles within it. Craig Burton, the Deputy Station Officer from Salen coastguard team, came in to school to explain the roles of the volunteer and full time coastguard services. Lastly, pupils enjoyed a tour and talk at the Strontian fire station with Neil Mellis and his Group Manager, Pat McElhenney.

We would like to say thank you to Angie, Bo, Craig, Neil and Pat for giving up their time to come and talk to us.

Other units that pupils have opted to take for their Scottish Studies Award are Travel and Tourism, Step Dance and Earth’s Natural Resources.
