Germany Trip

The Ardnamurchan High school trip to Germany was a huge success and enjoyed by everyone, but the return journey proved to be a challenge.  With the port of Calais shut down by strike action, the Scots were to be evacuated by Dunkirk (!) Unfortunately  further  strike action at the Belgian border resulted in further delays and overnight stacking  of  traffic, including our coach, on the approaches to Dunkirk.  The somewhat bizarre rescue by a bin lorry as escort vehicle saw our coach safely on board a ferry 11 hours behind original schedule.  With a target ETA back at Ardnamurchan High school of around 2 a.m., the second rescue of the holiday was the Corran ferry turning out specially to save the exhausted staff and pupils the long drive round the loch and anxious parents another  1 ½ hr wait.  A big thank you to the Corran team for their efforts  which were hugely appreciated by everyone.
