National Mod results (as far as have been reported to us)

What a representation AHS had at the National Mod this year and we are extremely proud of all our young people for their commitment and confidence in taking part.

Seinn solo

Eliza Moffat: 2nd place (traditional song).

Isla Mackechnie: 1st (prescribed singing), 2nd (traditional singing).

Alasdair MacKay: 1st (Silver Pendant for his traditional song), 2nd (prescribed song).

Layla Orr-Macintyre 1st (prescribed song), 4th (traditional song).

Chloe Curtis: 2nd (Traditional song)

Poetry Recital

Isla Mackechnie: 2nd place.

Oren Manthorpe: 4th place.

Fiddle

Alasdair Mackay 3rd place.

Choir

Isla, Joni, Maggie MacAskill, Eliza, Layla involved in a local choir ‘Seisteal’

Two competitions: 2nd and 3rd place.

‘Battle of the Bands’

Alexander, Maggie Mac, Alasdair, Alistair, Colla, Allan, and Eliza (AHS Folk Band) 2nd place.

Isla, Joni, Layla participated in folk band ‘Seisteal’: 3rd place.

For a bit of perspective, 1st place was awarded to a highly skilled semi-professional quartet including students from Plockton Music School / Royal Conservatoire of Scotland! A very close run thing. AHS clearly won the audience vote however with the biggest cheer of the night!
